Dickson and Agwai to Co-Chair National Security Dialogue in Abuja Today

Today, July 28, 2026, all eyes are on the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja. Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, alongside the former Chief of Army Staff, General Martin Luther Agwai (Rtd.), will co-chair the highly anticipated maiden edition of the First Daily National Dialogue on Security.

The event will officially kick off at 10:00 a.m.. According to the organizers, this non-partisan gathering aims to examine the root causes of Nigeria’s security crisis and propose practical, lasting solutions.

The high-level gathering will operate under a very strong and timely theme: “Declaration of State of Emergency on Insecurity: Matching Words with Action”.

Dr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the Publisher of First Daily, described the event as a much-needed intervention. The dialogue brings together a powerful mix of stakeholders, including:

  • Special Guest of Honour: Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, is set to present a special paper titled, “Governors as Chief Security Officers in Nigeria: The Bayelsa Example”.
  • Government Representation: The Minister of State for Defence, Dr. Bello Matawalle, will also be in attendance.
