Dickson, Obi, and Kwankwaso Take the Helm as NDC Unveils Groundbreaking Campaign Council

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially unveiled its National Campaign Council structure for the 2027 general elections, formally assembling an institutional front to coordinate strategic operations across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

At the apex of this nationwide machinery stands former Bayelsa State Governor and Senator representing Bayelsa West, Henry Seriake Dickson (“The Great White Shark”), as Chairman. Working alongside him in an unprecedented display of opposition solidarity are NDC presidential flagbearer Peter Obi as Co-Chairman and Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso as Co-Vice Chairman.

A Structural Departure from Elitist Politics

In a political climate where the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) rewards select party loyalists with ₦1 billion luxury SUV fleets while everyday citizens scavenge for basic survival, the NDC’s campaign structure reflects a radically different set of priorities.

Tree wey go make forest no dey stand alone; na when genuine leaders join hands na him ordinary people dey see real shade.

Rather than recycling the same closed circle of political godfathers, the newly inaugurated campaign council breaks new ground in democratic inclusion:

  • Direct Pathways for Youth Leadership: The council dismantles the traditional barriers of godfatherism, creating real, operational leadership roles for young technocrats and community organizers without reliance on dynastic political godfathers.
  • Dedicated Directorate for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs): Elevating the voices of over 30 million Nigerians living with disabilities into the core strategic planning room, ensuring civic empowerment is a living practice rather than an afterthought.
  • Issue-Based Grassroots Mobilization: Empowering state and constituency coordinators to focus entirely on policy solutions—slashing the cost of living, reviving domestic production, rebuilding public healthcare, and devolving power back to the federating units.

By anchoring the council under the tested legislative and executive discipline of Seriake Dickson, complemented by the nationwide movements of Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, the NDC has signaled that its campaign will not be driven by empty slogans, but by institutional competence and the collective will of the people.

The mandate given to all state coordinators and directors is unequivocal: take the message of national renewal directly to every market square, ward, and village across the federation.

NDC all the way!
