Hoodlums Storm Osun PVC Centre, Steal Voter Cards and Electoral Materials

Armed men have attacked a Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) distribution centre located at Oyinlola DC Primary School in Okuku, Osun State. The hoodlums fired shots into the air while officials were attending to residents, creating panic and disrupting the exercise.
The Attack and Stolen Items
During the violent invasion, about ten armed attackers scattered the crowd. Before the police could arrive at the scene, the criminals escaped with several packs of PVCs and other highly sensitive electoral materials, including Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices.
Questions Over the Timing
This shocking attack happened just a day after Governor Ademola Adeleke declared a public holiday. The holiday was meant to encourage more citizens to go out and collect their PVCs ahead of the upcoming governorship election.
Because the attack happened so close to a major election, many citizens are asking questions. People are wondering what truly motivated the attackers to target the exact cards that residents need to cast their votes.
INEC Reassures Voters
Despite the tension, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stepped in to calm the public. The electoral body confirmed that this incident will not stop or derail the Osun governorship election.
INEC also offered a strong guarantee to the affected voters:
- Any voter whose PVC was stolen will still be allowed to vote, as long as their name is on the official voter register.
- The commission will issue replacement cards to everyone affected by the theft.
