Preparations for the 2027 general elections have gained fresh momentum as the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson (HSD), led a strategic meeting with Lagos NDC stakeholders on Friday.

The consultative session brought together the party’s Lagos State governorship candidate, Mr. Funso Doherty, the South-West Zonal Vice Chairman, the Lagos State Chairman, legislative candidates, and senior party officials.

Reviewing State Preparedness Ahead of Campaigns

According to reports by Daily Post Nigeria and Politics Nigeria, the meeting provided a platform to assess the party’s grassroots strength and review readiness for the upcoming political campaign season.

During the session, Lagos NDC stakeholders briefed the national leadership on recent developments across local government chapters and outlined key milestones achieved so far.

Key priorities established during the discussions include:

  • Building Cohesion: Harmonizing political structures across gubernatorial, national, and state assembly campaign teams.
  • Grassroots Mobilisation: Expanding voter outreach and community engagement across all wards in Lagos State.
  • Putting Public Interest First: Encouraging candidates and members to place party objectives and the welfare of Nigerians above personal interests.
  • Continuous Reconciliation: Reaching out to various interest groups within the party to resolve concerns and maintain internal harmony.

Peter Obi Joins Strategy Session

The meeting received an additional boost when the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, joined Senator Dickson to address the state delegation.

Both leaders commended the commitment shown by the Lagos NDC stakeholders and stressed the need for collective action and mutual support across all levels of the ballot.
