PUAN Calls on Leaders and Citizens for Peaceful 2027 Elections
As the Osun State governorship election approaches this Saturday, and with eyes on the 2027 general elections, the Polling Unit Ambassadors of Nigeria (PUAN) has sent a strong message to the nation. They are urging all political leaders, supporters, and everyday Nigerians to choose peace, avoid hate speech, and reject violence.
Democracy is a Shared Duty
During the official launch of the PUAN platform in Abuja, the group’s Ambassador-General, Captain Dabas Suleiman, delivered a powerful reminder. He stressed that making democracy work is not just a job for politicians or the government alone. It is a collective responsibility that involves every citizen.
He urged political leaders to lower the tensions in the country and lead by example.
Moving From Spectators to Active Citizens
Captain Suleiman also challenged ordinary Nigerians to change how they participate in politics. Instead of just sitting back and watching, he encouraged citizens to:
- Become active participants in the democratic process.
- Demand accountability from the government at all levels.
- Pay close attention to public projects and development initiatives happening in their local communities.
Holding Leaders Accountable
One of the biggest points made by the Ambassador-General was about how citizens view their relationship with the government. He explained that asking authorities to explain their actions should not be seen as a fight or a confrontation.
Instead, he described it as a responsible act of citizenship. When citizens ask the right questions and demand good results, it creates healthy and constructive engagement. Ultimately, this is what builds a better and stronger society for everyone.
