ANOTHER 3 WEEKS ABROAD! Tinubu Heads to UK as Nigerians Question President’s Absence Amid Economic Pressure

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has once again departed Abuja, this time for a three-week vacation in Europe. According to Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the President’s first stop on this extended trip will be London, United Kingdom.
While the Presidency has officially described the trip as a “working vacation” and part of his annual leave, the timing of this departure has sparked an intense national debate.
A Pattern of Absences
This latest trip marks the President’s 11th major break or foreign trip since taking office. It is also his fifth official annual leave.
The extended three-week duration of this leave is significantly longer than previous breaks. Just a month ago, the Vice President also took a two-week leave.
For many Nigerians, the issue is no longer just about where the President is traveling, but rather if the country can truly afford his prolonged absence right now.
Mounting Economic Pressure
The timing of this European vacation is raising fresh, serious questions about leadership and priorities. Across the nation, citizens are facing mounting economic pressure, heavily struggling with rising living costs and inflation.
Critics are openly questioning whether the President should be away for such an extended period when Nigerians are desperately demanding immediate, hands-on solutions to the severe economic challenges at home.
According to the Presidency, Tinubu will return after the three-week period to join the “hectic campaign for the January 2027 election”. However, as everyday costs continue to soar, citizens are asking a very pointed question: When Nigerians are struggling this much, should the President be in London or Abuja?
What are your thoughts on the President’s 3-week vacation to Europe? Is a working vacation justified right now, or should he remain in the country to tackle the economy? Share your views in the comments below!
