ICPC Exposes Massive Scandal

How a Fake Agency Operated Inside Government Corridors

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has uncovered another fake agency operating within Nigeria’s government machinery. Even more alarming, senior public servants are suspected of helping run this fake agency directly from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).

Unmasking the Fake Agency and Its Promoter

The newly exposed fake agency operated under the official-sounding name “National Brands Development and Made in Nigeria Special Project Office”.

According to the ICPC, the promoter behind this fake agency is George Buchi Nwabueze. Investigators revealed that Nwabueze operated under multiple aliases to run the illegal setup:

  • Prince George Buchi Nwabueze
  • George Nathan
  • George Nathan Nwabueze
  • Hon. George Buchi Nwabueze

ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu (SAN), uncovered the fake agency while investigating a previously exposed illegal body, the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

President Tinubu Orders Arrests and Suspensions

After being briefed at the State House on the operations of this fake agency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took immediate disciplinary action:

  • Arrest Order: Directed security agencies to immediately arrest George Buchi Nwabueze for promoting the fake agency.
  • Suspensions in OSGF: Suspended three Permanent Secretaries in the OSGF—Ms. Danjuma, Engr. Nandungu Gagare, and Richard Pheelangwa—for their suspected collaboration with the fake agency.

A Growing Threat to Public Institutions

The discovery of a fake agency securing office space within top government offices highlights a dangerous weakness in internal administrative security.

The ICPC reaffirmed that its investigation into every fake agency operating across the country remains active, promising to uphold the rule of law and clean up the public sector.
