NDC Secures INEC Portal Access Amidst Legal Battles
Despite recent judicial hurdles, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has officially secured access to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Candidate Nomination Portal.
National Leader Senator Seriake Dickson issued a definitive update today, confirming that the party is aggressively moving forward with the administrative submission of its flagbearers for the 2027 general elections. The announcement serves as a massive morale boost for the party’s base, proving that the opposition movement is firmly on the ballot.
The Legal Counter-Offensive
Addressing the recent Federal High Court ruling in Lokoja that attempted to reverse the party’s registration, Dickson revealed that the NDC has launched a comprehensive legal counter-offensive.
The party has officially filed an appeal against the ruling, alongside an application for a stay of execution and an injunction. These legal documents, accompanied by a covering letter, have been formally served to the INEC Chairman.

Peter Obi and Key Figures Uploaded
With portal access granted, the NDC is not wasting a single minute. Dickson confirmed that the essential data for both himself and the party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, have already been successfully uploaded to the INEC portal.
The Vice Presidential candidate’s details are scheduled for submission tomorrow upon the completion of necessary depositions, with the administrative process actively ongoing for all other candidates nationwide.
The Timeline: “No Reason to Panic”
For supporters and candidates anxious about the tight submission windows, the National Leader provided clear reassurance that the party is operating strictly within the official INEC timetable:
- National Assembly Candidates: Uploads will continue and conclude by July 11, 2026.
- Governorship & State Houses of Assembly: Uploads will conclude by July 17, 2026.
There is ample time for all qualified names to be submitted, and Dickson urged the party faithful to remain calm and focused.
Reconciliation and the Road Ahead
Acknowledging the friction that naturally accompanies high-stakes direct primaries—especially for a rapidly growing party managing a massive influx of aspirants—Dickson assured that internal reconciliation is a top priority.
